Sittin' Pretty :)

So after a few days of practicing over and over their sitting positions, Iker and Izel are now at a point where they can sit, unassisted, for a minute or two and then topple over :D
Also, today Tia Martha stopped by to visit with us and the babies. We had a nice relaxing day spent wandering around Target, Old Navy, and Marshall's. We really didn't go in with the intention to shop, just to get the babies out of the house for a bit.
So here is are a few pics of my magnificently awesome sittin' machines hee hee...

New look!

We had a fun weekend with the babies sporting a new look and visiting family at a baby shower. Of course since we were at the park, it got a little windy and Iker is now sick. He doesn't really seem to be bothered by the cold that he's got, but he does have the dreaded post nasal drip that causes him to hack all night which wakes him up :( But he is a strong little dude and is pretty much happy-go-lucky regardless of the constant stream of boogies comin' out of his nose :D

So the babies got their helmet's done and they look sooooooo cute. HUGE thanks go out to the artist, Paula, who did the art work. Seriously no words can describe how talented she and her family are. If Ramiro were working, we would have had her paint the Sistine Chapel on both helmets and they still would have looked impeccable :D
Check out her website to see more of what she is capable of at : www.lazardo.com .
So as promised here are the pictures of their new and improved helmet's :D

Hello and Good Night!

I know I haven't really posted lately so here is a short update on whats been going on. Good news arrived yesterday in the mail. The school that I applied to at the very last minute (seriously, I submitted my application with literally 2 hours left to the deadline) accepted me for their nursing program =D. Ramiro and I are super SUPER excited. Instead of having to wait till Fall 2010 to start, I am now starting June 2009!!!. I have to give BIG thanks to a friend of mine that gave me the heads up on the school, if it were not for him I would still be waiting.
Now moving on to the babies. They are really, really, really movin' now. Iker is constantly rolling around in his crib, from belly to back and back to belly. Often times we find him in the morning sleeping on his belly, which of course FREAKS me out. I know at this age he should be fine if he is the one turning himself over to sleep, but still after all these months of hearing "back is best", I get a little nervous when he prefers to sleep on his belly. I admit though, I do sneak in to their bedroom and flip him back to his back in the middle of the night....several times :) Izelita is doing her best to sit. She can now sit unassisted for about a minute before she starts to fold or lean to the side.
Well thats it for now, hope you have a good night. Pictures will be posted tomorrow since the babies are getting their helmets painted and I want to show them off once they are done :)

Ahh spring is here!!!

So spring has finally arrived and with it some weather changes. Practically all last week was sooooo nice. We were prob in the mid 80's and the babies actually got to show off their legs and stretch their toes, but alas all good things do come to an end. Friday was the last day of our warm days and daddy and I got to take the babies in for some pictures, they took their 1st day of spring pictures (thats my excuse for professional pictures and I'm sticking to it). We only ordered one pose but they look soooo cute. Then on Saturday weather was not so nice and Izel woke up with a little bit of a runny nose, nothing to call the doctor about. Sunday morning could not have been more miserable (weather wise). We all wake up and its raining, windy, and cold. Of course Izel sleeps little thanks to her persistent cough and wakes up with a full blown cold. Poor thing, she is absolutely miserable and there is nothing I can do but cuddle with her and promise that it will soon pass :(

Anywho, here are a few pics from Friday and here's hoping everyone had a nice weekend :)
Here is Izel & Iker prior to our trip for their Spring time pictures
I know it looks a little off but I had to take a picture of the picture due to my lack of owning or having access to a scanner :) (don't they look sooooo cute)
I love this picture! I looks like they are trying to figure out a math problem or something :)
Back with our helmets, right before our nap time :)

Feliz Dia De Su Santo a Todos Los Jose's

Today was Abuelito Pepe's Santo and the babies decided that the occasion called for a good chocolate cake. The cake was most delicious and we had a nice gathering to help us devour it too. Tia Jackie, Ranita, Tio Chava, Lita Hogis, mommy, daddy, and babies all together sang Las Mananitas to Abuelito.
So let it be said that we offer our felicitaciones to all the Jose's (Abuelito, Uncle Joe, and Tio Jose) on your Santo and may you have many many more!!!

Now on to the pictures!!!

What a short weekend!!

Wow! Seriously where did the weekend go?? Well Friday was a pretty easy day. Woke up to a nice loud CRASH. Turns out 2 of our neighbors were in a minor fender bender. How exactly that happened has yet to be determined (seriously they are only a few houses apart from each other and one of the cars looks pretty bad). After our exciting morning, the day turned out to be pretty warm. Ramiro and I decided to take the babies outside to spend time with Fandangero and Frambuesa. Doggies didn't really seem interested yet, but I'm sure they will once they have two little ones pulling them by the tail and the ears.
Saturday and Sunday were spent with Lita and Abuelito.
Tia Jackie and Ranita did Ramiro and I a favor by watching the babies for a few hours while we went to the movies. We saw Paul Blart..........not really worth it.
Today was pretty relaxing, just spent shopping at Target our favorite store of late.
So since nothing else to add, here are a few photos of our uneventful, totally relaxed, super nice weekend :)

Thankful for what we have!!

So today started off as a pretty good day. Tia Jackie, Ranita, the babies and I went to have a DOC band "tune-up". The clinician said that the Iker and Izel are progressing great. Iker had his band shaved down a little in the front so that it wouldn't cover his eyes so much and Izel had some extra padding added to the back so she can't wiggle out of it (on 2 different occasions she woke up without the band on). After their appt. we went to have breakfast at Bob's big boy. it was ok, except for the part where the waiter spilled ice cold water all over me.
After breakfast Tia Jackie and Ranita dropped us off at home. The babies were EXHAUSTED. They barely ate 4oz before passing out. They both slept for 3 1/2 hours. It was unbelievable. By the time they woke up daddy was home. They were both so excited to see him. However, news from work wasn't so good. It turns out that the company that hired him on Monday doesn't have enough work for the guys they just hired so they had to let some guys go. Considering he was one of the newbies, he was the first to go. After 3 days of work, daddy has been laid off. *Sigh* Sometimes I feel like we just can't get a break, but then I realized that there are families out there that are worse off than us. So to end the update for tonight, I would like to say that we are very grateful for all that we have, and although we might not have everything we want, we most definitely have everything we need.

Twins turn 5 months today!!! 03-10-09

So, I am finally starting this blog thing and trying to figure my way through this whole process. I have decided now that the babies have officially turned 5 months, now would be a good day to start share our moments, both the good and the bad, with our friends and family. More than anything I really want to use this blog as a way of keeping everyone updated on our family, since I know we are not always in contact, but you are always in our minds :). Anywho, on to the babies.... Iker and Izel are doing grrrreat. I can't believe how big they have grown these last few months. It seems like yesterday that we brought them home. They were soooo tiny, and now they are both probably over the 17 lb mark. So here is what has happened this past month or so. The jelly beans got their 4 month shots and of course Izel fussed for about 10 minutes and then she was over it, as if nothing happened. Iker fussed the rest of that day and through the night. The shots seem to affect him more my poor little bean. At the time of their appt. Iker weighed in at almost 15 lbs and Izel at 16 lbs. Both babies have been diagnosed with having plagiocephaly. In short it just means their heads are not round so they have to where an orthotic called a DOC band. They have to where it for about 8 weeks or so. I wasn't to thrilled with the idea but what ever is best for my babies. They really dont mind the bands, in truth I don't even think they realize its there. Hmmmmm what else, oh yeah, Izel is trying her darndest to sit up. She pulls her head and her shoulders completley up when she is in her swing or bouncey. Iker has yet to try that move but holds can push himself up with his arms when on his tummy. Both babies are starting to roll, so yup we've got mobile babies now. Ok I know this is a long post but I feel like I have got so much to catch up on. So to close for tonight I'll try and post some pictures of the babies day today. They are sooooo cute.

Mmmmmmm those teething rings feel sooooo good :)
